We tend to ignore small cannons, thunder mugs and salute guns as second class muzzle loaders. In central Europe there are large clubs that fire salutes to open festivals and for holidays. One of the largest salutes is the Weinachtstenabend salute in Bergtesgaden, where the club has about 1,200 members. The largest of the salute guns is the Trombino used in San Bartolo in the Italian Alps.
